Coronavirus Decimates Freelance Industry

Thousands of freelance professionals have either had their contracts cancelled or their jobs made redundant due to the economic fallout from the Coronavirus. As an example, one of the leading online IT recruitment sites has seen its vacancies drop by 95%. This is being compounded by many recruitment agency firms furloughing their entire staff which means that job adverts are not being posted or firms being cold called for potential vacancies. Clearly the competition for any vacancy is fierce and candidates will be ruthlessly discarded due to the sheer number applying.
